On behalf of the MVCI board, I would like to personally thank you for 27 years of outstanding support.

The Annual MVCI Association Conference was implemented 27 years ago for the purpose of providing a Criminal Interdiction Networking event that offers low cost, high quality, professional criminal interdiction training to officers throughout the United States and Canada. This is made possible by using the most talented criminal interdiction officers and their resources from around the country. As always, we strive to continue our mission which is to provide you with the highest quality training, networking opportunities, and an overall valuable meeting experience for you, your partners/co-workers, and families.

We would like to once again thank the Georgia State Patrol for hosting the 27th Annual MVCI/EPIC Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. We are extremely excited that the great men and women of the Georgia State Patrol have offered to host this 27th Annual event and continue to support this proud legacy. Since its inception; beginning in 1991 in El Paso Texas, this Conference has continued for 27 years making our annual conference the longest running uninterrupted conference in the history of criminal interdiction training and networking.

This is the second time that the Georgia State Patrol has graciously hosted what is arguably one of the best and most informative aspects of our long standing criminal interdiction conference in North America. Just like the many agencies that have hosted this conference in the past, the Georgia State Patrol will be challenged with making the 2017 conference the best conference yet. Since the inception of the Annual Conference, the host agencies have always been committed to operating this conference in an ethical, professional, and responsible manner. Our commitment to you remains the same today as it has always been. Many top criminal interdiction and patrol instructors are slated to be a part of a multitude of informational classes that will cover all aspects of policing and officer safety.

This year’s conference will select the most experienced and upcoming trainers in the field of criminal patrols. We will focus on officer safety and understanding the new world of law enforcement.

MVCI’s program and its classes were designed, implemented, and presented by Bob Thomasson. Throughout the years, Bob Thomasson, with assistance from multiple associate instructors, delivered this training to law enforcement officers throughout the United States and Canada. In appreciation and recognition of Bob’s contributions and personal sacrifices to this vital mission throughout his career, past recipients of the award that was formally known as the “Commercial Motor Vehicle Drug Interdiction Officer of the Year”, have voted to change the name of the award to the “Bob Thomasson Award”.

This award is one of the most prestigious awards that a criminal patrol officer can receive. Furthermore, not just anyone or any organization can present this award and present it in the way that it was meant to be given. What makes this award so prestigious is because of three main factors. 1: The achievements that the recipient accomplished based on the guidelines set forth by members of the MVCI and EPIC committees. 2: The presentation of the award by past recipients of the “Bob Thomasson Award”. 3: The deserving individual of the award receiving this honor in the presence of past recipients of the award and the members of the organization who developed this award.

In closing, I would like to say on behalf of myself and the MVCI and EPIC staff, we sincerely appreciate the loyal support from the multitude of officers that have continuously made this conference a part of their law enforcement career. For the officers that will be attending this conference for the first time, we invite you to become a part of this long-standing tradition and welcome you to our family.

Please go to www.mvci.org and register for the conference.
