YAD LA`SHIRYON LATRUN

Memorial site and Israeli Defence Forces Armoured Corps Museum

Latrun is located about 20k from Tel Aviv on the road to Jerusalem. The main building itself was used initially by the British and then by the Jordanian Army of the Arab League before it was captured by the 7th Armoured Brigade. The "Burma Road" (the relief road to Jerusalem) started here.

The site has many interesting parts, including the "Wall of Names" which lists the names of the Armoured Corps fallen soldiers since the War of Independence to the present day.

Being more interested in the vehicles on display, I was unable to see all of the site. There are about 200 vehicles on display including many that I had not seen in the flesh before. If anyone wants to know about the vehicles or the Museum, I will try to help. There are many WWII vehicles on display including many variants of the Sherman. There is even a Panzer IV which was captured by the Russians, sold to the Syrians who in turn lost it to the IDF in the 1948 War. There is also a Panhard AML 90 used by Israeli Paras in the 1967 War.
